Tawny Frogmouth
This painting titled 'Quietly Watching' is in honour of a bird who's low rumbling call we hear most nights here at home. Tawny Frogmouths are not usually found alone and you will often see them all lined up on a branch together. They mate for life I was told. This little guy did have a family but in town here, frogmouths are vulnerable to cats and we assume he is the last survivor of his group. Even so, his beautiful low tones always make me smile and I peer out in the night to see if I can catch a glimpse of him in the dark hunting and avoiding cats.
